The battle of Tewkesbury took place on the 4th of May 1471 between the forces loyal to the House of York and the House of Lancaster. Ultimately the battle was a victory for the house of York, as the Lancastrian heir to the throne, Edward of Westminster, Prince of Wales, along with many prominent Lancastrian nobles were killed during the battle or executed after. Henry VI, the Lancastrian King died shortly after the battle in the Tower of London. The Yorkist victory returned political stability was returned to England until the death of Edward IV in 1483.

The Re-enactment takes place in Tewkesbury a stones throw from the incredible Abbey, this is always a large event that attracts many re-enactors and visitors from miles around. Last year one of the top Italian re-enactment societies The White Company attended, and the setup they brought was astounding, with camp fortifications and more than ample banqueting setup.

One of the best battle events of the year. So, if you can attend, then please do!
